First tier tribunal part I: factoring made simple


This half-day introductory course helps to simplify the complex issue of Factoring in Scotland. It looks at the historical situation and all up to date legislation. This course examines the role and remit of the Housing and Property Chamber of the First Tier Tribunal, which replaced the Homeowner Housing Panel (HOHP) in December 2016.

Learning Outcomes/objectives


• To give you knowledge regarding the past and present factoring situation in Scotland.

• To equip you to deal with enquiries about Factoring from customers.

• To enable you to assist your organisation in complying with the code of conduct.

Learning outcomes:

• Understand the historical situation of Factoring in Scotland.

• Define the Acts of the Scottish Parliament affecting Factoring.

• Examine the Property Factors (Scotland) Act 2011 and in particular the Code of Conduct.

• Identify the remit of the First-Tier Tribunal in relation to homeowners.

Who should attend

Any staff responsible for delivering a factoring service or a repairs service to mixed tenure flats.
