Voting for the next CIH vice president opens
Voting for the next CIH vice president is officially open. The three candidates shortlisted following the nomination phase have gone forward to a vote of CIH’s membership to decide who will be successful.
They are Aileen Evans, the group chief executive of Grand Union Housing, Lindsey Williams, the chief executive of Futures Housing Group and Darshan Matharoo, vice chair of Empowering People in Communities.
Every CIH member will be sent a voting code which they can use to cast a vote any time until voting closes at 5pm on Wednesday 15 August.
Vice president Jim Strang will become CIH president in September when current president Alison Inman’s time in office comes to an end.
The winner of the ballot will become CIH’s new vice president and will go on to become the organisation’s president in 2019.
Terrie Alafat CBE, chief executive of CIH, said: “We’re so pleased to have three excellent candidates to replace Jim, who has been a brilliant vice president, when he steps up to the role of president in September.
“At this crucial time for housing when we need to do all that we can to drive professionalism, continue to influence policy and shout about the great work our sector is doing, the vice presidency is a hugely important role. The successful candidate will be an ambassador for CIH and for the housing profession and they will go on to become our president in 2019, so this is a really significant vote.
“It is really important that members have their say and I hope every member uses their vote to help us pick a winner from our strong list of candidates.”
