Benefits of attending

Gentoo believe that housing providers can play a vital role in identifying and responding to domestic abuse. Working in the housing sector enables us to form unique relationships with our customers, ideally placing us to play a key role as part of a wider coordinated community response to domestic abuse. We understand the impact abuse has on the victim, but do we understand the long-term impact this has on children who are exposed to domestic abuse?
Gentoo has a dedicated victim support and safeguarding team who work to protect and support victims and their families. Safeguarding children and recognising the signs of neglect and emotional abuse is something that we at Gentoo take very seriously.

This webinar will focus on the impact domestic abuse has on children. It is so important that children feel safe and secure in their family home. Domestic abuse is classed as an adverse childhood experience and can lead to longer term vulnerabilities and mental health problems such as anxiety and depression. By spotting the signs and responding to domestic abuse we can deal with the root cause, break the cycle and protect and support those who will grow up to secure a tenancy of their own….our future customers. The webinar will explore the bigger picture, impacts on your business and the difference housing providers can make both now and in the future.

The webinar will also cover what Gentoo are doing to support the Make a Stand pledge that has been developed by CIH in partnership with the Domestic Abuse Housing Alliance (DAHA) and Women’s Aid.
